The Guys that made this happen

The Beginning

Thanks to a donation from Sprouting Farms we were able to install high tunnels. Two people were instrumental in the construction of these high tunnels; they are Keith Doverspike (pictured here) and Tim Lanham (pictured with Keith on our Home Page).

On June 8, 2021, we planted our first crop of heirloom tomatoes and Swiss Chard. Our first delivery of produce was tomatoes to Pies and Pints in Fayetteville, WV. We also began delivering produce to the Mountaineer Food Bank. Cold storage was provided by New Roots Community Farm in Fayetteville, WV.

Tomatoes were one of our “cash crops” in our first year of operation. As you can see they are beginning to thrive. Our first sale was to Pies and Pints in Fayetteville, WV. Later that year, we also began delivering tomatoes to the Mountaineer Food Bank and Crook Brothers (a local distributor).

Turnips were the true “cash crop” for 2021. We delivered more than 1,000 pounds of turnips to the Mountaineer Food Bank in the fall and early winter of 2021-2022.
